I believe in teaching strong, clear dance fundamentals so students do not spend time acquiring bad habits that, as patterns, timing, and styling increase in difficulty, will limit students’ long term growth. Salsa, in song and dance, is becoming faster and more complicated. It is essential that an individual’s dance technique keep pace with this trend. By spending time learning and mastering the proper fundamentals of Salsa, a student’s skill level will increase more rapidly than without having established these core techniques. My students will ultimately be in a much better position to achieve their goals.
As with most things in life, the basic fundamentals, intermediate combinations, and advanced concepts of Salsa cannot be learned over night. It takes most dancers years to be truly proficient in their dancing. Being realistic about the time it takes to learn Salsa and taking that time to properly learn the dance will save a student much time, money, and frustration down the road. Again, as with most things in life, a student’s results are directly proportional to the effort he/she puts forth in learning and practicing the dance.
These beliefs are the foundation of my eight week group class sessions. Each session walks a student through a set syllabus of patterns and concepts in order to help him/her learn Salsa in the most thorough and yet expeditious manner possible. The focus of these sessions is on lead/follow techniques, styling, body movement, timing, spinning, and combinations. During the eighth week of each session, a student is put through a comprehensive test in an attempt to assess his/her current level of dance. A student is either advanced into the next session or asked to continue his/her studies in the current session.
Registration is open now and will close on the first day of class. Once registration closes, no drop-in students are allowed as this slows the pace of the class.

Class Descriptions and Registration Dates
Beginner I: Patterns
This session is designed to teach the core basics of the Salsa dance. A student works through a syllabus of beginner level patterns with other partners from the session. Students are introduced to the concepts of leading and following with the body and with the arms and how those concepts are applied to each pattern. A student is ready to dance socially after the first class of this session.
- Class Time: Thursday evenings from 7-8pm
- Registration is open now for the next session : May 6 - June 24
- Cost: $80/Session (8 classes/session)
Beginner II: Combinations
This class takes the techniques and patterns learned in the Beginner I: Patterns session and expands on that newly acquired knowledge by introducing a student to combinations and also to variations of the Beginner I: Patterns syllabus. This enables the lead (male) to think of their patterns on the fly while still remaining on time with the music and maintaining clear lead techniques. The follow (female) is able to develop a keen sensitivity to their lead’s movements, thus enabling her to advance in her own dance as opposed to blindly following without awareness of her own actions.
- Class Times: Saturday mornings from 10-11am
- Registration is open now for May 8 - June 26.
- Cost: $80/Session (8 classes/session)
- FRIDAY NIGHT CLASS IS CANCELLED. BEGINNER II WILL ONLY BE HELD ON SATURDAY MORNINGS.
Intermediate I: Patterns
There are an abundance of patterns from which to choose when dancing Intermediate Salsa. However, I have carefully selected seven patterns that are commonly used at the intermediate level. These patterns allow the fluidity and movement of the dance to shine. Leads and follows are further educated on the concept of the body lead and on why it is a better method of leading when dancing Salsa, as well as more evolved spin techniques, styling, musicality and footwork.
- Class Time: Thursday evenings from 8-9pm
- Registration is open now for May 6 - June 24th
- Cost: $80/Session (8 classes/session)
Intermediate II: Combinations
Using the syllabus of patterns from Intermediate I: Patterns and the syllabus of combinations from Beginner II: Combinations, a student can now see how Salsa really begins to come together into a cohesive dance. This class is a fun challenge used to test a student’s comprehension and mastery of the three previous sessions. Students will learn unique combinations that focus on musicality and fluidity. With their newly acquired Salsa skills, students are now hot commodities on the social dance floor.
- Class Time: Saturday mornings from 11-Noon
- This class is now a drop in format. Must have very strong intermediate skills to drop in.
- Cost: $10/class
